VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) andSokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Public  Service  Recruitment  Secretariat  invites  qualified Tanzanians  to  fill seven (7)vacant posts mentioned below;-

1.0 MUHIMBILI NATIONAL HOSPITAL (MNH)

Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) is a tertiary specialized and super specialist hospital in Tanzania organized into nine directorates with bed capacity of 2,178 out of which 1,570 beds are at the Main Upanga Hospital and 608 beds are at Mloganzila facility which is 23km away from the main Hospital.

The Hospital serves between 2,000-3,000 outpatients and 1,500 – 2,000 inpatients per day.

1.0.1 BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER- 1 POST (RE-ADVERTISED)
1.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To carry out preventive maintenance schedules for all laboratory and Hospital      equipments; ii. To carry out inspection and calibration of theatre equipment; iii. To ensure safe custody of workshop tools;

iv. To ensure timely availability of spares for repairs and maintenance; and v. To perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor.

1.0.3  QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from a reputable institution and registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as Graduate Engineer.

2.0 SOKOINE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE (SUA)

Sokoine University of Agriculture was first established on the 1st July, 1984 by Parliamentary Act No. 14 of 1984 through the amendment of Parliamentary Act No 6 of the same year.

Following repealing of the Act, the university is now operating through the Sokoine University of Agriculture Charter, 2007 through the broad framework of the Universities Act, 2005.

The history of Sokoine University of Agriculture dates back to 1965 when it started as an Agricultural College offering diploma training in the discipline of agriculture.

After the dissolution of the University of East Africa and the consequent establishment of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in July 1970, the College was transformed into a Faculty of Agriculture of

University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and thereby started offering Bachelor of Science in

Agriculture.                                                  .

In 1974, the Division of Forestry was established and hence the faculty was named Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry.

The introduction of Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1976 and the establishment of the Division of Veterinary Science, the Faculty was re-named “Faculty of

Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Sciences”. The Faculty was on the 1st of July 1984 transformed, through Parliamentary Act No. 6 of 1984, into a full-fledged University and became known as Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).

The university was named Sokoine University of Agriculture in honor of then Prime Minister of Tanzania Edward Moringe Sokoine who died on 1984.

2.0.1 DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL, AQUACULTURE AND RANGE SCIENCES
2.0.2   POSITION: LECTURER -1 POST
2.0.3   DISCIPLINE: DAIRY SCIENCE
2.0.4   DUTY STATION: – MOROGORO
2.0.5   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;
  2. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
  3. To mentor junior staff in relevant fields; iv.         To participate/ contribute in curriculum development;
  4. To participate in developing and managing various University/ Constituent College activities;
  5. To undertake research and publish/ disseminate results;
  6. To carry out consultancy and community services;
  7. To write teaching manuals and compendia;
  8. To supervise field practical, undergraduate special projects, Masters and PhD dissertations/ theses;
  9. To attend/organise workshop, conferences and symposia; and 
  10. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
2.0.6 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

PhD and Master of Science either in Animal nutrition, Animal Science or related studies with at least a GPA 4.0 out of 5.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.8 or equivalent (i.e. an average of B+ for BVM and medical graduates) and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with at least B+ score in relevant subjects from a recognised Institution. 

2.0.7 REMUNERATION: As per Treasury Registrar’s Circular No. 7 of 2015, which is applicable at the moment.

2.0.8 POSITION: ASSISTANT LECTURER – 2 POSTS
2.0.9 DUTY STATION: MOROGORO
2.0.10 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;
  2. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate programmes;
  3. To prepare and present case studies;
  4. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
  5. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support;
  6. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
  7. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
  8. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
2.0.11 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Masters of Science either in Animal nutrition, Animal Science or related studies with at least a GPA 4.0 out of 5.0 and having a minimum GPA of 3.8 or equivalent (i.e. an average of B+ for BVM and medical graduates) in the First Degree with a minimum score of B+ in the relevant subjects or its equivalent.

2.0.13 DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL, AQUACULTURE AND RANGE SCIENCES
2.0.14 AQUACULTURE PRODUCTION SYSTEM
2.0.15 POSITION: ASSISTANT LECTURER -1 POST
2.0.16 DUTY STATION: MOROGORO
2.0.17 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;
  2. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate programmes;
  3. To prepare and present case studies;
  4. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
  5. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support;
  6. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
  7. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
  8. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
2.0.18 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master and Bachelor of Science Degree either in Aquaculture or Aquatic Sciences with at least

“B+” score in Aquaculture Production Systems courses from any recognised University.

2.0.19 REMUNERATION: As per Treasury Registrar’s Circular No. 7 of 2015, which is applicable at the moment.

2.0.19 DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY PARASITOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY
2.0.20 POSITION: ASSISTANT LECTURER- 1 POST
2.0.21 DISCIPLINE OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES
2.0.22 DUTY STATION: MOROGORO
2.0.23 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To assist in preparations of Samples/Specimens for laboratory use;
  2. To make necessary preparations to facilitate conducts of laboratory tests; 
  3. To maintain cleanliness in the Laboratory including cleaning of equipment and glassware;
  4. To assist in carrying out routine/specialized tests;
  5. To assist in carrying out specified tasks connected with laboratory analysis, consultancy and services;
  6. To collect and take care of equipment involved in teaching;
  7. To assist in collecting and preparing laboratory teaching materials;
  8. To assist in preparing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing quality system of laboratory equipment and reagents; and
  9. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
2.0.24 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Microbiology or equivalent qualifications with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5.0 and Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.8 or an average of B+ for unclassified degrees such as that of  medical graduates. 

2.0.25 DEPARTMENT OF SOIL AND GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES:

2.0.26 POSITION: ACADEMIC LABORATORY ASSISTANT II – 1 POST
2.0.27 DUTY STATION: MOROGORO
2.0.28 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To assist in preparations of Samples/Specimens for laboratory use;

2.0.29 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Certificate in one of the following fields: Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

2.0.30 REMUNERATION: As per Treasury Registrar’s Circular No. 10 of 2015, which is applicable at the moment.
