TITLE: Humanitarian Accountability Officer
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Emergency Response/MEAL
LOCATION: Kigoma Region
CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year, renewable
Level….: √ the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Save the Children International is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual who can ensure that Save the Children’s programmes in Tanzania maximizes local community participation and capabilities. Under the direction of the Humanitarian Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Coordinator, the Humanitarian Accountability Assistant will work with the Programmes, Monitoring/Evaluation and Operations teams, as well as other relevant internal and external stakeholders, to ensure all Save the Children’s programmes maintain high standards of accountability to our beneficiaries in line with Save the Children and international humanitarian standards.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The position is under the line management of the Humanitarian Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Coordinator. The post has direct support role of all program teams to get accountability and learning tasks of projects and programs performed appropriately so as to contribute to achieve the organizational goal and objectives.
Reports to: Senior Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Coordinator.
Staff directly reporting to this post: None.
Beneficiaries Feedback & Complaints:
Follow up on outstanding beneficiary feedback with relevant departments and beneficiaries:
Bachelor and/or Advanced Certificate degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in relief and development work. Minimum 2 year experience in humanitarian accountability design and implementation.
At least 1 year’s field experience working in international relief and humanitarian affairs.
Knowledge & Skills:
Self-starter who can work independently under pressure.
Committed employee with a high amount of initiative, collaboration, forward-thinking, team spirit and humor
Familiarity with humanitarian accountability standards and other international quality assurance mechanisms, including Sphere, Red Cross Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, Do No Harm, People in Aid Code of Good Practice, etc.
Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment. Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible world view, and emotional maturity.
Experience engaging in learning events (training).
Experience developing and implementing complaints and feedback systems.
Experience in promoting community participation in all stages of the project. Experience developing and implementing community information provision and consultation processes.
